| Players will leave the SLHL for the following reasons, no exceptions:
1. Should a player retire in the real world, they will retire at the next rerate period where they fail to be rerated. This means that the player will retire one NHL season after the season in which they retired.
2. Should a player leave the NHL for another league, upon the next rerate period where they fail to be rerated, they will be placed on the team's prospect list until they re-enter the NHL/AHL or retire.
3. A player's death falls under the same ruling as #1.
