PostSubject: Salary Structure and No Trade Clauses   Thu Jul 15, 2010 11:01 pm

The Salary Structure in the SLHL is as follows:

$x (y), $z - C

x = cap hit
y = term
z = total signing bonus
C = clause offered

Cap Hit

The maximum cap hit for any player is $10M.
The minimum cap hit breaks down like this:

1yr - $500k
2yrs - $550k
3yrs - $600k
4yrs - $700k
5yrs - $800k

Term

The maximum term you can offer is five years.
The minimum term you can offer is, obviously, one year.

Signing Bonus (SB)

Signing Bonuses can be any amount as long as they follow the restrictions set. They are as follows:

PRFAs - Will take SB's of up to 300% of the cap hit.
PUFAs - Will only take SB's of up to 100% of the cap hit.
Free Agent UFAs and RFAs will take up to 200% and 300% of the cap hit, respectively.

Clause

At this time the only clauses you can offer is a No Trade Clause (NTC) or a Limited No Trade Clause (LTC). No Trade Clauses are unbreakable and are far more valuable for signing players than Limited Trade Clauses. A player with a LTC must provide a list (via the Trade Clause Agent) of ten teams that he DOESN'T wish to be traded to. Benefits of NTCs/LTCs are as follows:

NTC
Franchise Player (78ov+ Rating)- $1.25M per season break on salary.
Top line/top two player (75-77ov) - $950k per season break on salary.
Top nine player/top four (72-74ov) - $700k per season break on salary.
Role Players, Depth Players (70ov-71ov -)- $400k per season break on salary.

LTC
Franchise Player (78ov+ Rating)- $900k per season break on salary.
Top line/top two player (75-77ov) - $750k per season break on salary.
Top nine player/top four (72-74ov) - $500k per season break on salary.
Role Players, Depth Players (70ov-71ov -)- $250k per season break on salary.

Players signing contract extensions will accept a NTC/LTC on 4 and 5 year terms only. Players being signed through Free Agency will be on a per case situation, though the NTC/LTC will not get you a break on salary. It becomes another bargaining chip when trying to sign a player in the offseason.

You may buy out of a LTC at a cost to your finances:

  • 1st yr buyout - no 1st year buyouts
  • 2nd yr buyout - $2M per season remaining on contract
  • 3rd yr buyout - $1.5M per season remaining on contract
  • 4th and 5th yr buyout - $1M per season remaining on contract
When buying out of a NTC, your team is subject to a 'penalty':

  • 1st yr - 1st year buyouts not allowed
  • 2nd yr - Future LTC will only save you 50% of standard savings, cost you 175% more.
  • 3rd yr - Future LTC will only save you 75% of standard savings, cost you 150% more.
  • 4th yr - Buyouts will cost you 125% more.
  • Final yr - no penalty, but list of teams that a player can be traded to will be limited to the five of the Trade Clause Agent's choosing.
NOTE: THE TEAM GETTING A PLAYER THAT HAS WAIVED HIS NTC/LTC WILL INHERIT THE NTC/LTC! The team will not be subject to the penalty if they wish to trade the player with the inherited NTC/LTC, but will still have to pay for the removal of the NTC/LTC, should they wish to trade the player.

Again, NTCs are iron-clad...with one exception: Should the player demand a trade, the NTC may be waived, though the player still has final say on whether he wishes to be dealt to the other team, or not.
