GMs must ice the best team they have at all times. While this doesn't mean you can't mess around with linemates, the league doesn't want to see #1 goalies sitting on the bench and 1st line players sitting on the 3rd and 4th lines so that the team can 'tank'. We expect you to run your team with integrity.

Each pro team needs to have the following minimums:

Centres - 2
Left Wings - 2
Right Wings - 2
Defense - 5
Goalies - 2
All pro teams must have at least 18 players and two goalies dressed. An extra five may be scratched.

There is no minimums for the AHL affiliates.

The maximum number of players per team (not including prospects) is 50.

The maximum number of players allowed on the NHL team is 25.

The maximum number of players allowed on the AHL team is 30.

Should a team attempt a trade, signing or prospect creation that would put them over the roster limit, the trade, signing or prospect creation will be nullified until said team can clear enough roster space...either through trading or releasing players (buyout applies).

The max salary that can be on a team's AHL affiliate is $3M.

The max overall rating that can be on a team's AHL affiliate is 69.

These two maximums are in place to stop teams from stacking their AHL affiliates during the playoffs, as well as to deter teams from burying quality talent in the AHL.

Coming for Season Six:

After rerates, players that did not play an AHL or NHL game in the previous season will end up being placed on the team's prospect list.

Example - Jaromir Jagr did not play an NHL or AHL game last season. Since rerates only affect players that play in the NHL and AHL, he will be automatically moved to the prospect list of the team that owns his rights.

This WILL affect the number of players on each team. Please ensure your minimums are met.

Also after rerates, the overage prospect rule will come back into effect. More on this, however, in the overage prospect section of the rules.
